Band History

The band that would eventually become Faustus was started as Penguin Steak in early 2001. By 2004, with no original members of the band remaining, it was decided to rename the band and make a complete new start. Faustus was chosen (named after a character in a Christopher Marlowe play who sells his soul to the devil), and Gavin, Chris and Tom practiced on, with various people filling in on bass and lead guitar as and when required.

However, with the closure of their regular practice room, the band decided to spend time writing new material. In May 2005, the three members returned to Tremelo studios to resume practicing. Old friend Gareth Kinsella filled the role of bass player, but no second guitarist was needed due to the style of their new material.

In 2007, Gavin left to concentrate on recording and was replaced by Darren, who is an uber guitarist.
